Uber destroys Jump's electric bikes and scooters, why?

Uber Jump Electric bike & Scooter - JTechpreneur

Shocked, right? What is Jump in the first place? In April 2018, Uber said it would focus more on its electric bike and scooter business than on cars and started Jumps. Jump is an electric bike share company with an app where you can find and rent and electric bike or a scooter so that you can "jump" to your destination. Let's jump to why they destroyed thousands of electric bikes and scooters.

How do Jump bikes and scooters work, you open the Uber app, switch to Bike and Scooter view then reserve a nearby bike or scooter or simply walk up to the either of them and scan the QR code on it to unlock it then ride -- as simple as that. Where to park is available and shown on the map.
Pricing costs $1 to unlock a bike, and then $0.12 per minute to ride it, with your first five minutes free. The electric pedal-assist responds to pedal pressure, and can give a boost to help you ride up to 15 miles per hour. If you park a bike outside of the allowed range, you get a warning on the app. And if you leave the bike parked there, you get a $25 fine.

Jump started operating in the United States and by end of 2019 it had reached the streets of New Zealand, Canada, France, Germany, Portugal, the United Kingdom, Mexico and Australia.

As jumping here and there been comfortable to both Uber and riders, Jump bikes and Scooters did get stolen and damaged plus also have been used in crimes which made Uber to pull them out from different areas and countries.

Uber is among many of the Companies greatly affected by Covid19 Pandemic and to prepare for recovery just recently this month May 2020 Uber transferred the Jump e-bike and scooter business to Lime in an investment deal of $170m (£139m) for Lime to acquire "tens of thousands" of Uber's Jump bikes - and the associated intellectual property.
"Lime has the operational expertise and undivided focus needed to build a scaled, sustainable micromobility business".
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi said.
Uber acquired Jump Bikes for a reported US$200 million but after the deal, something that has disappointed many especially charities and organizations instead of Uber donating the bikes and scooters to community groups or sold them they opt to destroy thousands of the old-model electric bikes and scooters due to maintenance, liability, and safety concerns. Uber according to their words decided to "responsibly recycle them".
