WhatsApp "text status" and "Contact list" features are baaaaack!

"The customer is always right", you can say that again... because you have won.

Hi tech fans, thank you so much for your support. This is our 101 blog post and at 82,796 all time views as I write this post. As it is said "the customer is always right", am happy to always be of help to my readers and followers. On to today's talk, to all WhatsApp thousands of users around the world, GOOD NEWS! Whatsapp text status and Contact list is back in your favourite Instant Messaging App, WhatsApp -- here's how to get it...

WhatsApp Inc. the Instant Messaging smartphone app giant had rolling out the old "text status" feature and the "Contact list" feature, though the Contact list wasn't really gone. It was place somewhere else.

The "Text Status" feature

This feature, which was removed after WhatsApp introduced a new feature that was also called Status, and became part of the user profile -- to me it is an awesome idea. To a creative user it can be used in so many ways, for adverts, daily inspiration messages for your contacts, friendship grid photos, through back photos (#tbt) among many. The ability to caption a status photo/video and get to see the list of viewers is awesome. Many of my friends loved the old status feature and they all had different comments about it, others even went to the extent of rolling back to the old version. They missed the whole idea or creativity in the new feature.

The old "text status" feature is back and now called "About and phone number" and users can access it by clicking their profile tab - settings then scroll down to phone number section.

The Contact list feature

The Contact list wasn't really gone because a user could just click on the search "lens" icon and search a word or the contact name. Many users were used to the old Contact list option which brought the confusion. Now it's back with a "New Message" icon on the home screen.

How to get the new features

You can just go to "Google Play" App in your Android Smartphone -- "My Apps" -- (scroll down to WhatsApp) Select "WhatsApp", then Update it.
For now the feature is only available to Android users. But in the coming weeks it will also be rolled out to iOS users. The app version that includes this new feature is WhatsApp 2.17.111.
